Common Questions

Watch Glass Replacement FAQs

How much does watch glass replacement cost in India?

Watch glass replacement costs ₹500 to ₹8,000 for standard watches, and ₹4,000 to ₹20,000 for curved sapphire crystals in luxury watches. Mineral glass replacement for everyday brands costs ₹500–₹2,000. Sapphire crystal replacement for premium brands costs ₹1,500–₹8,000.

What is the difference between mineral glass and sapphire crystal?

Mineral glass (hardness 5–6 Mohs) is scratch-resistant and cost-effective for everyday watches. Sapphire crystal (hardness 9 Mohs) is used in premium watches and is virtually scratch-proof — only diamond can scratch it. Sapphire also has better clarity and anti-reflective properties.

Can scratched watch glass be polished instead of replaced?

Light scratches on acrylic (plexiglas) crystals can often be polished out with metal polish or a crystal polishing compound. Mineral and sapphire glass scratches generally cannot be polished and require replacement. We assess your watch and recommend the most cost-effective solution.

Is it safe to use a watch with a cracked crystal?

No. A cracked crystal breaks the water resistance seal, allowing moisture to enter and damage the movement. Sharp edges can also cause injury. A cracked crystal should be replaced promptly to prevent secondary damage to the movement.
